How we work

Editorial Methodology

Espressora is a research journal, not a test lab. We do not claim hands-on testing we haven’t done. Every machine profile, guide, and comparison on this site is built from manufacturer-published specifications, official user manuals, and documented product literature.

When we score machines in the Setup Finder, we’re matching published capabilities — boiler type, basket design, steam system, grinder inclusion — against the needs you tell us about. Nothing more, nothing less.

If a detail can’t be verified in official documentation, we say so plainly — or we leave it out.

  • Published specs only. Boiler type, group size, basket design and grinder inclusion come from the manufacturer — never from memory or marketing copy.
  • No sponsored placements. Rankings and recommendations can’t be bought. Our affiliate relationships never influence scoring.
  • No invented experience. We don’t write “we tested” unless we did. Research is research, and we label it as such.
  • Corrections welcome. Specs change and manuals get revised. If you spot an error, tell us and we’ll fix it with a dated note.
